Corporate Social Responsibility

We aim to be a responsible business that meets the highest standards

We aim to be a responsible business that meets the highest standards of ethics and professionalism.

At Huriya Private, we are proud to be known as a socially responsible company, respected not just for the services we provide and the importance we place on outstanding client service, but also our contributions to charitable causes and our efforts to address inequities and social injustices both domestically and abroad.

We believe that success is not only measured by financial gain but also the difference you make in other people’s lives and the example you set for others.

We aim to be a responsible business that meets the highest standards of ethics and professionalism. This is evident in every area of our organisation. From our commitment to the diversity and inclusivity of our staff, to our charitable initiatives and our efforts to protect the environment.

Our employees

Employee engagement is at the core of everything we do. Our success is built upon generating a positive work environment where employees feel valued and inspired to do their best work.

We understand that our employees are our most important asset and our success as a company and ability to positively influence issues in the wider world depends on the commitment we make to their well-being, job satisfaction and professional development.

We place great importance on a good work-life balance and as such have introduced shortened working hours of 34.5 hours per week. We are also flexible with any team members who wish to concentrate on their studies/professional development and regularly provide training, development opportunities and wellness events for our employees.

Fostering diversity, equality and inclusion

We aim to be an inclusive, equal opportunity employer and we recognise that our ability to meet the needs of a diverse and global client base is closely linked to the diversity and inclusiveness of the people within our company.

We have been encouraging female participation in Huriya ever since the company’s launch in 2018. Our vision is that women make up a large part of our mid-senior and executive leader roles and we offer mentorship programmes to help them achieve their maximum potential professionally and personally.

Today, the results speak for themselves. 60% of our employees are female, many of whom are heads of departments and from a variety of different cultures and backgrounds.

We also support our female staff members by providing maternity leave that is more generous than the maximum amount specified under federal law. Female employees who have completed 2 years with Huriya enjoy 100 days maternity leave on full pay and for employees with less than 2 years’ service, we offer 60 days maternity leave on full pay.

Diversity and inclusion within our organisation are also things that we feel strongly about. We have employees from numerous different countries and religious backgrounds, and we ensure that occasions of significance such as Ramadan, Diwali, Christmas and birthdays are celebrated and enjoyed together. This helps to bring us together as a team and fosters a culture of mutual respect.

Huriya Private Foundation

Huriya Private Foundation is a non-profit organisation that was conceived with the purpose of giving something back to underprivileged communities and individuals in the Middle East and Asia and helping to create a future where everyone has equal access to opportunity.

We firmly believe in the mantra “Whoever saves one life saves the entire world” and that if enough people adopt the same selfless mindset of giving whatever they can, it creates a positive ripple effect which positively influences the future of countless individuals.

Values such as diversity, inclusion and excellence guide the causes we choose to support and by creating Huriya Foundation, we have a platform to make a real difference to people’s lives.

The focus of the foundation includes:

  • The prevention of poverty
  • The relief of those disadvantaged because of race, gender, age, ill-health, disability or financial hardship
  • The provision of education
  • The advancement of the arts, culture, heritage and science

As part of our work with Huriya Foundation, we have partnered with several charitable organisations which align with our values and have enabled us to make lasting changes in people’s lives.

Al Jalila Foundation

In June this year, the Huriya Foundation in partnership with Al Jalila Foundation raised over AED57,582 for the Basma campaign, an initiative which provides high-quality healthcare to children with cancer and helps to fund costly medical procedures and support cancer research. This was made possible thanks to donations from Huriya Private partners, clients and employees as well as proceeds received from the auction of a painting by Polish artist, Marcin Rogal.

Huriya Foundation also separately donated AED 72,418 to the Al Jalila Foundation for the medical treatment of a young girl, named Swaba who was born without hearing. The funds we donated were used to cover the cost of cochlear implant surgery for Swaba, which enabled her to regain her hearing and begin leading a normal life. More recently, we raised AED20,000 as part of our ‘Pink October’ campaign. The money, which was donated by Huriya Private clients, staff and a direct contribution from Huriya Foundation, will go towards supporting the work of breast cancer charities in treating and raising awareness of this disease and in doing so, saving many lives.

As a result of all these fundraising efforts, Al Jalila, have recognised and generously honoured our contribution by engraving our company name on their donor recognition wall alongside other notable contributors leaving a mark and legacy on the future of medicine.

Dubai Cares

Another philanthropic partnership which we have made, is with the UAE-based, Dubai Cares organisation which advocates for children’s rights. Together, we have raised USD 45,107 to go towards the ‘Adopt a School’ initiative, which helps to build a school and provide vital education to children in an underprivileged area of Nepal.

The funds donated to this worthy cause were generated directly from Huriya Private FZ LLE’s profits as well as generous donations from employees and partners.

The Cherie Blair Foundation for Women

Another cause very close to our hearts is the empowerment of women. Girls and Women face significant challenges across the globe, from discrimination and violence to being underrepresented in business and decision-making roles. The Cherie Blair Foundation for Women is an organisation which resonates with us and shares these values, so last year we created our own scholarship fund in partnership with the foundation and began a mentorship programme to empower women.

The programme provides guidance and support to women from underprivileged backgrounds and provides them with the tools to start their own businesses, support their communities and realise their dreams.

we were proud to be able to donate GBP55,000 to the fund and will continue to create more life-changing opportunities through our mentorship programme.

Supporting Grassroots Sports

It has also been a privilege to have been able to play a part in supporting the development of grassroots sport through our involvement in two children’s sports teams.

Last year, we partnered with the Christina Noble Foundation to sponsor the participation of their women’s rugby team in the annual Dubai Rugby 7s event and then sponsored the Empire Sports Academy’s Empire FC children’s football team.

All of these initiatives and causes allow us to give something back to the communities in which we work and create opportunities where they are needed most, and we are excited to continue making a difference however we can.

Environment

Our company recognises the importance of protecting our natural environment and minimising the environmental impact of our corporate activities. As such, we are committed to ensuring the responsible use of resources and preventing pollution.

In order to minimise paper use and wastage, we provide digital solutions to our clients and employees such as videoconferencing, online learning resources and cloud-based services.

We also ensure that when hard copies of documents are required, staff members print on both sides of the paper.

We enforce a no plastic in the office rule and ensure that it is adhered to by providing our clients with glass bottles of water.

We understand that recycling and environmental awareness is a combined effort, and we ensure that it remains at the forefront of our employees’ minds and it’s always a priority.

Future Vision

These initiatives are just the start of what we want to achieve. The Huriya Private Foundation will continue to work towards social and environmental reform and strive for a future where all children get the care and support they need to thrive. We will continue to fight for the next generation and a better future for all.
